Our current project— an Open World Survival game with a stylized look in a world of magic and wonder—invites players to explore vibrant, mystical landscapes and embark on unforgettable adventures. As we expand, we are looking for a Senior Gameplay Animator to help bring our characters and creatures to life through dynamic, expressive animation.

Your Role

As a Senior Gameplay Animator, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality, stylized keyframe animations that enhance gameplay and immerse players in our world. You will work closely with artists, programmers, designers, and other departments to shape character motion, develop animation systems, and establish best practices for the team.

Beyond creating top-tier animations, you will also take on a leadership role, providing guidance and mentorship to other animators while contributing to the technical and creative vision of our animation department. This is an in-house position based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Key Responsibilities

• Create Stylized Animations: Develop high-quality keyframe animations for creatures and characters in a third-person action game.
• Define Animation Quality & Style: Help set the artistic direction for animation in the game, ensuring fluid and expressive motion.
• Lead & Mentor: Provide guidance to junior animators and help them grow as artists.
• Collaborate Across Departments: Work with engineers and designers to develop gameplay animation systems and mechanics.
• Technical Problem-Solving: Address animation-related challenges across multiple departments.

Required Qualifications

• Industry Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as an animator in video game development.
• Strong Animation Fundamentals: Expertise in human and creature movement with a keen eye for detail.
• Technical Knowledge: Fluent in Unreal Engine 5 and Maya.
• Experience Leading Projects: Comfortable owning and effectively communicating animation projects and workflows.
• Shipped at Least One Title: Experience bringing a game from early development to release on console/PC or equivalent experience.

Bonus Points

• Leadership Experience: Past experience leading an animation team or managing junior animators.
• Vision: Interest in developing animation direction and style.
• Technical Animation Skills: Knowledge of rigging, skinning, and technical animation workflows.
• Unreal Engine Expertise: Strong experience working with Animation Blueprints and state machines in UE5.
• Survival or Multiplayer Game Experience: Familiarity with animation challenges in open-world survival or multiplayer games.
